MWC14 Highlights

on .

This year’s industry-defining event, Mobile World Congress, was once again hosted in the Mobile World Capital Barcelona, at two world-class venues, Fira Gran Via and Fira Montjuïc. Recognizing the importance of the event, SocialSensor participated with an aim to bridge the gap between innovative research and development and the mobile industryTo show that Greece can innovate and has a lot to offer to the industry as well as to leverage the benefits of an organized country mission , we participated with the Greek mission and held a booth with other 3 academic and research institutions within the Greek pavilion.

The booth was crowded with many professionals and researchers, app developpers, ICT startup companies, mobile marketing agencies, mutlinational organizations, investors and incubators representatives asking to find out about the project and big data in mobile devices, how they can test and try the prototypes before the end of the project as well as whether the proposed platforms will be commercially available.

As part of our participation in the event we were invited for a live interview in the Tech Talks Central webradio broadcasting from Fira Montjuic during the entire event. Many companies participated include huge corporations such as Intel, Amazon, PayPal, Sony, Ubuntu and more.

Press coverage was also significant, with many journalists from Greece and abroad interviewing the SocialSensor team and already publishing articles, posts and videos in popular news sites about SocialSensor and Greece at MWC. For the project itself, was a very valuable experience as we met many interesting people and gained constructive feedback on the results. Visiting the exhibition halls provided glimpses of exciting new phones, tablets, wearables, back-end solutions, technologies, applications, accessories, and more.

Between the GSMA Pavilion in the GSMA Connected City, and several initiatives pavilions, the GSMA highlighted important initiatives benefiting the industry, including Mobile Apps, Mobile Cloud, NFC & Mobile Money and Green Technology. More than 32 countries and territories from around the world showcased innovative companies and ideas from their citizens.

We want to thank all the people who visited our booth and shared their thoughts on the project with us. In particular we would like to thanks the GreeceMWC team and the Hellenic Association of Mobile Applications Companies (HAMAC) for an excellent pavillion and a great collaborating team. We are looking forward to meeting you all at MWC15 next year!
