thessalliosFor a second consecutive year, SocialSensor collaborated with “Thessaloniki Differently” an urban experiment from Parallaxi magazine  in order to provide a mobile app to support: Made in Thessaloniki #3 a series of events focused mostly on graphics, applied arts and design.

With the updated ThessAllios app the user can get informed about all the activites organized in the context of the festival namely: the “Toolkit Startup”, the “Make Art” exhibitions and the “City from the future” conference. The user can add his favorite activities in his calendar or bookmark them to “My Activities” menu item and filter them according to their date.

SNOW 2014 impressions

The second Social News On the Web (SNOW) workshop took place this week (Tue 8 April) in Seoul, in the context of the WWW 2014 conference. The workshop featured several very insightful talks revolving around the increasingly interesting topic of social online news. It is noteworthy that SNOW was featured by seen.co.

interesting picSocialSensor is participating in the Pre-FIA event: Reshaping Infrastructure for Innovation taking place in Athens from 18-20 March, 2014 with an invited talk and a co-organized workshop.

Our project will be demonstrated on Monday 17 March,  during the "Cross-breeding social networks and networked media in the Future Internet" workshop co-organized by STEER, BIG and VCONNECT project with an invited talk from ATC's Head of Operations, Dr Nikos Sarris  the work of the SocialSensor project, towards developing a new framework for enabling real-time multimedia indexing and search in the Social Web. MWC14 Highlights

This year’s industry-defining event, Mobile World Congress, was once again hosted in the Mobile World Capital Barcelona, at two world-class venues, Fira Gran Via and Fira Montjuïc. Recognizing the importance of the event, SocialSensor participated with an aim to bridge the gap between innovative research and development and the mobile industryTo show that Greece can innovate and has a lot to offer to the industry as well as to leverage the benefits of an organized country mission , we participated with the Greek mission and held a booth with other 3 academic and research institutions within the Greek pavilion. 

The booth was crowded with many professionals and researchers, app developpers, ICT startup companies, mobile marketing agencies, mutlinational organizations, investors and incubators representatives asking to find out about the project and big data in mobile devices, how they can test and try the prototypes before the end of the project as well as whether the proposed platforms will be commercially available.

SocialSensor clusters with Multisensor EU Project

MultiSensor Logo largeSocialSensor will be presented during Multisensor EU funded research project meeting in February 6th in Sofia. Part of SocialSensor's objective is to cluster with similar projects and join efforts to create something unique in large scale and social media knowledge extraction from a variety of multiple and heterogeneous sources.To this end we regard this opportunity as an excelent way to combine our research and development efforts in a very demanding and challenging field.

MULTISENSOR is an EU funded research project, which aims at advancing the research and development of multilingual media analysis technologies. The goal is to enable users (e.g. journalists, entrepreneurs) to attain a comprehensive and exact understanding of topics they are engaged in, not only from their own but from multiple viewpoints.  For more information please visit the project's website.
