The first SocialSensor newsletter has been released! The newsletter, which will be issued twice a year, will present a synthesis of the principal news items and main activity of the SocialSensor project.

ClustTour, a city browsing and photo tagging mobile app, won the demo award at this year's International Conference on Multimedia Retrieval (ICMR 2012) in Hong Kong. The app, which is available for free on the app store, supports efficient browsing and tagging of landmark and event photos. The application employs a hierarchical mode of exploration enabling zooming from the level of a city, through the level of an area/neighbourhood, down to the level of a specific spot.
SocialSensor, CERTH and Digital Spaces Living Lab will organise an industrial workshop on Social Media an Web Content Processing Services and Applications (Social Web 2012), on 6 July 2012 in CERTH, Thessaloniki, Greece. The objective of the workshop is to gather industrial and academic stakeholders along with venture capitalists and encourage discussion and sharing of ideas in the areas of social media analysis and web content processing. A second aim of the workshop is to bring together venture capitalists, start-up companies and researchers to discuss emerging opportunities, obstacles and risks arising in entrepreneurship in these areas both at local and international level.

SocialSensor and CERTH developed the mobile app for iOS for the TEDxThessaloniki event. The application is available for free on iTunes. The app was implemented in the process of gathering realistic user requirements and feedback for various types of events. Also for testing implementation technologies and approaches towards gathering significant experience for the SocialSensor use case prototypes. TEDx Thessaloniki event offered a unique opportunity since it attracts a large audience familiar with mobile apps and social media usage.
A demonstration video has been created for ThessFest, the official iPhone App for the Documentary Festival of Thessaloniki. ThessFest was created by SocialSensor as a means to collect actual end-user requirements for the Infotainment use case and to comprise an early test of the SocialSensor technologies in a realistic envrinoment.
